:Stochastic distributed MPC with application to energy systems

The aim of this research project is to develop new distributed techniques to solve optimal control problems for large scale cyber-physical systems affected by stochastic uncertainty. A robust approach is usually not viable due to its level of conservativeness and its high computational burden. The idea then is to tackle these two issues by employing an approach based on the stochastic model predictive control. The solution of the large scale optimization problem is computed in a distributed way by solving smaller problems and exchanging informations among the components of the overall system, while the level of uncertainty is progressively reduced as measurements of the system are collected. The effectiveness of the approach will be shown on a buildings network energy management case study.
