:AN INNOVATIVE DISTRIBUTED MODEL PREDICTIVE CONTROL OF ENERGY RESOURCES IN MICROGRIDS

As there are growing concerns about the environmental issues together with policies that have been developed to promote green technologies, the Renewable Energy Sources (such as wind, solar, hydro power, etc.) have become a priority in micro-grids recently. Nevertheless, exploiting a huge amount of renewable energy resources also causes many technical challenges, including demand balance, power quality of the distribution network, and even the stability of the grid. These problems still must be properly addressed to ensure that the present levels of reliability are not significantly affected. To this end, our research relies on three main pillars: improving the predictability of RESs, wisely operating Energy Storage Systems (ESS’) and modifying pre-scheduled consumption of flexible loads. These works have been tested not only in simulation but also in experimental environments using innovative approaches.
