:Optimization-based control strategies for microgrids management Abstract:
The research theme concerns the development of control strategies to foster the integration of renewable sources in the electrical grid. As many research studies and industrial projects witness, a key solution for this process consists in the spread of autonomously controlled small-scale grids, called microgrids, identified as a self-contained cluster of dispatchable micro-generators, renewable sources and loads, operating as a single controllable system. Microgrids can be designed to work connected or isolated from the utility grid, or both. Precisely, my research activity is structured as a two-way path aiming to design proper control strategies for these two microgrids operating modes, characterized by different issues and objectives. The research is carried out in collaboration with RSE research center (Ricerca sul Sistema Energetico).
