:Millimeter-wave Frequency Synthesizer based on Digital Phase-Locked-Loop for Wireless Backhauling ApplicationsAbstract:
To increase the capacity of wireless backhauling infrastructure, the wider bandwidths available in the E band (around 80GHz) will be exploited. Today’s implementations of the frequency synthesizer adopted in E-band radios are based on analog PLLs in III-V processes, such GaAs. Aim of this project is to experimentally demonstrate for the first time that an E-band frequency synthesizer based on a digital PLL in a SiGe BiCMOS process can meet the needed low-phase-noise requirements with the benefit of greatly increasing scalability and integrability of the device, and lowering its fabrication costs.
