:Safe and productive human-robot physical interactionAbstract:
Nowadays, companies operate in a global context increasingly competitive and mutable. In particular, the market changing velocity enforces companies to look for cheaper and more flexible solutions with respect to the traditional automation of the productive plants which is expensive, rigid and necessitates huge spaces inside which humans cannot enter without stopping the production. A new field of the robotics, the so-called collaborative robotics, meets these new requirements. It allows humans and robots to interact in the same working space. This allows to develop new automation solutions, but problems related to the safety of the human-robot interaction arise. Indeed, in this context, the robot should not collide with the human and moreover has to understand human intentions in order to actively assist him. For these reasons, during the research activities, new robot control strategies and human intention estimation algorithms will be developed in order to achieve a safer and more efficient human-robot interaction.
