:Development of low-noise electronics for multi-channel radiation detectors in neutrino physicsAbstract:
The research is focused on the development of a novel detection system for the TRISTAN neutrino project. The project is a future upgrade of the current KATRIN detector. By means of a new 3486-pixel SDD-based detector, the KATRIN's Tritium source is measured aiming at proving the existence of a keV-scale sterile neutrino. The detectors are being tested in smaller matrices first and then scaled up towards the final module. The characterization of SDDs with electrons, instead of photons, it is also a core part of the research activity. This is done by means of a SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) and other electron-emitting radioactive sources.
