:Advanced control systems for light and narrow-track vehiclesAbstract:
Environmental awareness and autonomous drive technology are the most important factors leading the development and research of modern mobility. Despite most of the efforts are addressed towards traditional four-wheeled vehicles, this evolution is regarding also light and narrow-track vehicles where the focus is moving away from the traditional sport/fun-oriented point of view.
The research settles within this scenario. On the one side, the two-wheeled vehicles autonomous drive problem is addressed, which cannot inherit the same solutions adopted for cars - due to the peculiar dynamics of narrow-track vehicles (e.g. their intrinsic instability). On the other side, new prototypes of light and hybrid human-electric scooter are studied, analyzing the management and the coexistence of the two power sources, aiming at increasing the overall energy efficiency.
