The research investigates new pub/sub architectures which can thoroughly support scaled-up and distributed Internet of Things applications for the 5G and the edge computing scenario. Protocol design and management of communication resources will be explored in order to: design and implement novel routing systems that support MQTT distributed brokers; predict traffic and perform load balancing using machine learning techniques; enhance the security of the communication both client and broker side.
