Major Research topic:
Proactive workload orchestration on the Heterogeneous Internet of Things
Abstract:
The Internet of Things is growing dramatically and needs to pivot from a multitude of single devices to a ubiquitous ecosystem. I propose a novel resource-centric methodology for orchestrating workloads, in the field of Heterogeneous Internet of Things (HetIoT), able to:
;
;
- ;
- track resources at all the layers of the HetIoT, via a context-aware sensing layer for resource utilization detection; ;
- exploit this knowledge to dynamically orchestrate workloads on the most appropriate layers, relying on a proactive orchestrator able to control the relocation of tasks among HetIoT nodes in a fully distributed fashion, thanks to a resource-aware runtime installed on each node; ;
- model the HetIoT application tasks for supporting software development, using a Domain-Specific Language and related compiler for expressing targets, requirements, and Service Level Agreements concerning resources available on groups of different HetIoT nodes. ;
