Abstract:
Environmental awareness is one of the most important factors leading the development and research of modern mobility. In this scenario, hybrid vehicles play an important role because they are able to merge the advantages of different powertrain solutions. Moreover, the optimal management of the multiple power sources is able to reduce consumptions, improving the efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of the vehicle.
In this research activity, energy management strategies for different hybrid vehicles are developed; in particular, a hybrid electric tractor and a human-electric bicycle. With respect to traditional hybrid cars, this kind of vehicles introduces new challenges to deal with, such as the presence of the human as a non-controllable power source in bicycles or the need of satisfying additional aspects related to the use of the tractor as a working machine.
