Abstract:
Development of a detection system aimed at measuring prompt gammas (PG) emitted during hadrontherapy for real-time monitoring of the charged beam range in tissues.
Detector and read-out electronics address the requirements of this indirect monitoring techinique: measuring of energy and timestamp of events to possibly reduce the huge background due to neutrons, reconstrucion of the scintillation position, high dynamic range to cope with high energy photons (up to 10 MeV) and high count-rate capability.
