On the Modelling Transmission of Information in Plants: the role of Biochemical Signaling and Molecular Communication

Abstract:
Molecular communication (MC) is a modern communication paradigm which aims to understand, describe and model communication systems taking inspiration from biological organisms. As of today, most of MC models are simple theoretical systems based on few nanomachines communicating in ideal conditions which could be hardly replicated in the real world. However, the MC principles and models could be also applied to study more complex systems to understand and mathematically describe the physiological behaviour of higher organisms (i.e. pluricellular organisms). In this context, this work aims to study how the information is propagated in plants both experimentally and mathematically to formulate a new validated MC model.
