Major Research topic:
Human-robot collaboration: a holistic framework for successful adoption in human-centred production systems
Abstract:
Human-robot collaboration still lacks methodologies and a clear reference implementation framework capable to support companies in a seamless evolution towards synergistic and mutualistic production systems in which human and machines complement each other. This research project starts from the investigation of the most relevant enablers and technologies that can concretise human-robot collaboration, evaluating their impact on successful adoption in manufacturing companies. From this analysis, a framework and support tools are developed to guide companies in conceiving, designing and deploying human-robot collaboration to evolve their production systems into human-centred ones. Moreover, a human digital twin is modelled and engineered, in order to allow the digital representation of workers. Finally, the research outputs are validated through empirical evidence on multiple case studies.
