Abstract:
The first year of research involves the study of Lake Como system starting from physically interpretable equations. After a deep understanding of the system, a first implementation of Model Predictive Control has been developed, testing different formulations and configurations with the purpose of finding the best strategy to manage the system. Later on, after having analyzed the main source of uncertainty affecting the system (e.g. the water inflow) a Scenario Model Predictive Control strategy has been developed. This is innovative in the field of water resources systems, since provide a scenario-base management of uncertainty, including it directly in the optimization step. As scenario generator, Facebook Prophet model has been used and implemented, generating an intelligent system composed by a scenario-based model predictive controller implemented in Matlab-CVX, working together with a scenario-generator, implemented in Python and being updated at each time step. 
Both the works are leading to publications.
